The french need their T3 sherman
Doc admits 3 Tigers is too much...and the'll probably be forced to restrict them to 2 next map.

I think it won't be fixed till we get TOEs and Tigers get forced to sit in 1 unit per army.

The "3rd Tiger".

It came at great cost to the Axis side in other things. At the time, having compared all the other aspects of the total equipment lists, and the capability it gives each side, we THOUGHT (it was a guesstimate, no argument there, nothing is truly known until it is tried, we thought the guess was good before it was tested in the game for real) ... we thought the sides would hold.

Compare the lists. The Allies have more tier 1, 2 and 3 (minus the French of course at tier 3, but that one is close now to being done) equipment than the Axis. They have bombers the Axis don't have. They have way more infantry.

It APPEARS that all of this is not helping. We can obviously see the same things you can. With all the other differences between the sides, I for one did not truly think that 1 lone Tiger more was going to "change the fortunes of the campaign" so drastically. It's still not certain that this is the real culprit, although the perceptions it brings would appear to have broken French morale which would make the unit (the Tiger) the culprit even if it were possible to beat the Axis with 3 tigers in their list, if players believe it is not possible ithen it isn't going to be possible.

But until it is a known actual fact we try not to make restrictions or rules that you can't influence as players. The "5 Tiger campaign" is a case in point. We learned from it actually happening, and we didn't think a "3 Tiger campaign" was going to have the same effect.

I still think it is possible for the Allies (emphasis on the French who are the least populated country right now, and thus the central issue) to beat the Axis but they'd have to do it with numbers. As long as they don't have the numbers of players spawning in that are required to equalize the match-ups we will see the Axis continue to creep westwards.

It's worth your while to ponder this carefully and use observation and a thinking analytical approach, considering everything. The British are holding better than the French right now and they don't have a better list than the French. They do have more players.

This "map reversal" is not as big as you might think. If the French had just a few more players it would be a real slugging match. If the French had the relative match in numbers to their British brethren in the north, the "3rd Tiger" wouldn't be the deal it appears to be right now. It would still be a great campaign. they could use the excess infantry they have, and the bombers could be slowing things down in ways the Axis cannot do right now, with few bombers at all to thier list, that they gave up for the Tiger.

Maybe the new Sherman will help to get the French a few more players. It will be an excellent tank, not a frontal behemoth like the Tiger, but easily increasing French AT capability well beyond their current levels. I'm building the ammo for it right now so you know it's close, it's not an oh yeah, NEXT YEAR :( proposition at all.

Next in line will be those 3 ATG's. The M1a2 ATG for the French will be excellent even though opinion says otherwise. No, not a QF.17pdr. but very good none-the-less, much better than the M10 out to 1300-1500 yards.

We really didn't think that a "3rd Tiger" would have this big an effect, and if numbers had not fallen off in the French brigades it wouldn't have had this effect. We certainly made the cost to get it as high as we could. Go and compare the lists if you don't understand what was done to balance the possibility of 1 more Tiger. It was expensive.

Morale is the key thing, it did (and will always do) many times more damage to your side than anything else ever will. Had we known morale would tank so heavily and so quickly we certainly would have considered the 3rd Tiger with a lot more gravity than was thought to be needed at the time. All we heard with 2 tigers was "they can never survive" now all we hear with 1 more of them is "it's Tigers everywhere". They are everywhere it seems, but only because their opponents are not.

When it was 2 Tigers, the Axis had bombers. More AT guns than now. More trucks to be MSP and more AA guns. Their fighter aircraft fleet only recieved 1 Fw190 when it might have been more. In troops they are way outnumbered. I think you're right, it is the Tiger but it's the Tiger perception. If the morale equation was equal the French would be making the Axis come here and post "3 tigers is not enough!" but the morale equation is not equal right now.

We can get the M4a3(76) into the game before we can get those 3 ATG's in, and we will be doing so. We hope it helps the morale issue to some degree. Get your rank (E5) in ArFr if you don't already have it.

Meeting the changes in morale is difficult. Rules that worked last time suddenly seem to not work now. Every campaign presents some call for rules to change again to meet what are just the perceptions of that moment. When perceptions change, a call to change the rules appears. That's very hard to address. You search and your search for an equitable balence given that equipment will never truly "match" in the simple red vs. blue manner than most get stuck on comparing the equipment under the auspices of.

Nobody is saying we have found the perfect formula, but we have found a pretty good one at times. Mostly, at those times when numbers are balanced and perceptions permit the playerbase as a whole to believe it's a pretty good one. Unhappily, we're not there at this moment. 3 weeks ago, we thought we were somewhere in that zipcode though. Axis were unhappy but the Allies were not.

We'll keep working at it. If you need to get angry, I understand, but I don't think it's a wise choice all the same.
