I Got Skillz - The Movie - Battleground Europe Forums

Dueling with KFS1

Unless you start adding all the channel names, it becomes misleading. If I transmit on origin, objective, mission and (by accident) 55, and you see

"55: HELP IN ANTWERP"

The information is now mislabeled. Also, the nature of these communications make the audience of a message nearly as important as the message itself.

But not if we don't lose the current icons.

I'm not saying remove the current icons. But with the near complete lack of tools to use to commincate in this game, indervidual channel numbers for brigades, divisons, corps, armys and countries is what is needed. Hence both sides HC's use them.

I need to send a message to multiple people doing different things: "Theres a Tiger on the western road". That needs to go to the air guys to bomb it, the truck guys to avoid it, the tank guys to flank it, the infantry guys to sap it and someway for everyone to know that TANK icon is actually a tiger.

Or for that matter: WHO am I asking to do a resupply misson? ANyone can do it, and they are very probably on another misson, target, objective or squad channel before I ask.

Till you give us that, we need numbered channels. The day the UI dosnt need numbered channels is the day you can remove them. And that is a day I think we all will agree, is a very long way away indeed. Sure, we'll get objective OiC's and brigade OiCs and division OiCs and Corps OiCs and Army OiCs.

But I guess it all comes down to the same problem dosn't it: Whatever we want, there isn't enough clones of KFS1 to do it anyway.

Memory lane for Campaign 30
Memory lane for Campaign 30 - Battleground Europe Forums

Leading the attack on the NiederKrutcien to Molan-Glahbach FB. The axis defended it for hours, both sides ran out of tanks. So we had a pure infantry fight north of it.

About 10 or so on each side. Flanks, supporing and surprssion fire from LMGS on both sides. Asking for snipers to keep the enemy heads down, /yell to THROW SMOKE, then /y CHARGE! across the open ground of 100m to the next cover. Firing at 15 feet with rifles between the german defenders of the "trench" line between 2 berms. Taking the trench, moving up to the end, and assualting the next german defencce line on the metaled road beyond.

Taking the road, and then moving up to the FB, which has ANOTHER german infantry defence line in a small forest. Waiting till we got enough infantry moved up, and then assualting that. Capturing the forest...and losing it before we could place more than 1 charge from a german infantry counter attack. Fighting back and forth.

FINNLY blowing the FB...and then going through the same battle 5 times over the next week!

An old post I did a while back in the motor pool.

Two templates for "speed"posting in PS forums.........

1. If your side is winning, use this template (delete as applicable)

"!S It is my (pleasure/honor/duty) to serve within the (Allied/Axis) side, we are (unstoppable/unbeatable). The (Allies/Axis) are (foolish/weak/disorganized), and my (skills/stats) show I am indeed one of the (best/uber) players in the game. Why, only last night I killed (2/4/8 ) (Tanks/Planes/DDs) armed only with a (knife/smoke grenade/sheep). CRS have FINALLY addressed the (nerfs/bias) caused by the (Allies/Axis) side. Now we the (forgotten/ignored) can address the wrongs done unto us. !S to CRS for finally listening to (logic/sense/our bribes). NOW this game is fixed, and we have a fighting chance"

2. If your side is losing, use this template (delete as applicable)

"WTF, Thats it....... the game is (farked/broken/pooh). CRS just listen to the (Axis/Allies). They've (nerfed/intentionally inserted a bug/not finished) our (tanks/planes/DDs/knives). The game is designed to give a (easy/automatic) win to the (Allies/Axis). The (Allies/Axis) never get a break in the history of this game. The (R35/PZII/Vickers) is (mismodelled/uber/godlike), why only last night I hit one (64/128/256) times with a (88/3"/Dropped a DD on it) and it didn't die. It just turned its turret (faster than mine/faster than it should be/at light speed) and killed me with (2 shots/1 Shot/Didn't even bother to fire). Thats it, I'm tired with the other side getting all the attention I'm going to quit"

Your "Best MMO PvP experience" so far.
f13.net forums - Your "Best MMO PvP experience" so far.

Conducting and leading a fallback out of a a doomed town in WW2OL, planning, excauting and finishing the counter attack, and rolling over the german defenders so well that we took the next took forward. Getting the air cover, air support, artillary, trucks, tanks and infantry (of players who are ussally as well co-ordinated as a barrel full of baby monkeys) working so well together it's like a muscial number. One I rembember best was a north of Eindhoven, Boxtel and then kicking the germans out of Veghal afterwards. Calling in an air stike which was on time, on station and on target just as the tanks roll in to the army base and the infantry smoke the bunker.

Only possible in the last year or so, due to the increased amount of players you can track of, couldn't really "feel" as atmospheric as it can sometimes these days. And you won't get a WOW game like it because PvP where evreyone's playing a FPS just is not goint to happen.

Not very commen, and I havn't seen it happen in Eve yet, though I hope to one day.

The stratagic advance that won the map for the allies - Battleground Europe Forums
The stratagic advance that won the map for the allies - Battleground Europe Forums

There's been a lot of talk, trolling and general soap bubble posts about why the allies are knocking on the gates of Germany.

However, I belive there was ONE great operational attack that won the allies to the postion we are now in. That was the French divison attack south of Ramet.

Before that offensive, the BEF was stuck at Eindhoven, unable to secure it's southern flank past Hasserlt due the cities of Masstrict and Leige. It is practicaly impossible to take Masstrict without Leige first, and it is excedingly diffcuclt to take Leige without French units in Ramet and south of the city and with tanks on the hills around the south of Leige (this is reflected in real life by the large Belgium forts set there for just such an occurance).

Severel times the French Division based in Namur had advanced as far as Ramet, but was beaten back by the german units falling back to the large Leige supply base (and Verviers/Aachan Airfields 5 minutes flight time behind them). As a result, French attacks from the direction of Anhee/Dinent/Ciney all ended in a german counter attack that tended to reach as far as Profendiville, due to the inability to break out North of Ciney.

I wasn't online at the time, but the image I saw of the French divsion SOUTH of ramet, coming in behind the german divsion in spotion was very graphic. As the german units that had been in the way seemed to have disintergrated, the French units coming SOUTH from Ramet were able to get behind the german units facing the Mueus, and in classic Hammer+Anvil terms, forced them to retreat.

With the capture of the towns south and south east of Ramet, french units were now south of Leige, and able to fiannly co-ordinate attacks from three sides with the BEF to the north and north west. Leige fell that or the next day I belive.

Since then the BEF was able to advance up to the river line, secureing the towns and cities north of Leige. At the same time, the French units were able to roll up the axis line, by continuly placing pressure on the german northern flank of the Mueuse line, south to Bertix and the rest of the Musue over the following week.

This is one of the few times I have seen an operantional attack WORK thanks to briages being on the map. It is rare to see, as thanks to the maps roadnet, being able to trap enemy units aginast terrian is well-nigh impossible (the rivers are about it, and other traps are only set due to running out of terrian, such as the map borders, rather than some phyicisal edge such as a mountain range or the Maginot Line).

With the amount of units currently on the map, it is also very hard to trap enemy divsions in hammer+anvil attacks (the classical "Canne" or even Blitzkrieg attack) using only friendly units, though thanks to the current problem of inabilities of allied formations to enter each others towns, more possible for the axis, than the allied. The attack south of Ramet was one of those rare occasions.

Hopefully, TOE's and TOE's stage II (where we get different SIZED units) will allow an increase in the numbers of units, though not their total army/divisonal manpower size, and hence allow more actions on the scale described. And therefore as well, more "Operantional" sized attacks, as opposed to 1-2 briages attacking a single cut off town.
