Threat Matrix
ABC.com: Threat Matrix
What a crap show. Unless it's deliberate to play up, it's even sillier than the CIA thing that was booted to after midnight after a few weeks.
"They're terrorists, we can do what we want! You got a problem with that?
No sir".
Elite agent ambushed THREE TIMES in 2 days. Must be NINJA's, who would be the only ones silly enough to take on america's super spies (ability see through walls! Able to jump giant plot holes with a single bound. Can trace a random call anywhere in the US within 3 seconds!).
Nice bit about not using Ecthatlon on american citizens, and negotiating with terrorists when needed.
1 out of 10. The 1 is for the nice space shots of satellites. I predict the show will be running AFTER 24 within 3 weeks, around a 11:30pm timeslot.
Movie line of the year
I agree, it's better than Troy, though the acting is worse :).
Line of the year:
After junior trainee BREAKS OFF THE ANTARATIC ICE SHELF...
I didn't do anything!
I want to beat the brains out of people like THAT

They have no rights. They aren't soldiers, they aren't citizens, they exist in a moral gray zone. We can do whatever the fuck we want.
Morality isn't law, and just because something isn't nice doesn't mean we can't do it.

Who is WE? Who is THEY? I'd love to hear the answer.
I put it to you that we are the peeple who are going up on charges for torture, abuse and other crimes that will end up with some of them being in jail for many years. If they were in Texas, you would be dead from exacution.
No you can't do it. if you do do it, WE put YOU in prison. At least, after the next election.
What happens then to people who acted like that?

No shots of the Opera house being torn apart by a Clycone. Only mention of anything in the southern hemisphere is a comment that Australia is watching the biggest tropical cylcone like, ever.
Pure fantasy moment: Vice Prisdent Dick Cheny saying he was wrong. Like as IF.
Our heroes get stuck in the New York public libary, and don't think to find a book on artic survival! Some geeks THEY are, shessh.
Yes it's silly (the bit about the wolves hunting live humans when so man dead bodies are lieing around...), but it's better than Godzilla.

From my experience at trying to get Thief III demo to work, and then finding a thread on comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action, it seems that yes, Windows ME is no longer supported.
As in, it will not load due to an error, and it being WinME, stufu.
I am glag a demo was released so I did not pay for finding out this error. Guess I'll be playing ThiefIII when it comes out on the underdogs.
Now, I expect most of you HAVE WinXP/2000, so the advice will be "upgrade noob". Bah.

The GHC COMMANDER is having morale problems!?!?
Am I the only allied player flabagasted by this? Bewilided? Unbeliving? Jaw dropping the floor? LMAO?
Pray tell us, what are these wounder weapons that we can use too? Mabye CRS is giving the axis V2 rockets to bomb London?

However,
I am glad that the HC's (well, one of them) is telling the rats of the problem, and the rats seem to agree with it, to some extent. Though it seems that the rats solution is, was and will always be, Brigade Spawning.
So it's not all bad news. I hope CRS does something, because I'm sure they can see the decreasing size of the playerbase better than I can.

AAR for Wurstwesel.
While the islands were going on I organzed some quick infantry attacks across the map.
1-3 infantry, 1 truck. St Trudien, Diest, Osstmalle, Wurstwesel, Etten Leur.
Tank EWS was going off at St T and Diest, so those diversions didn't get anywhere, ei were defending the spawnables.
HOWEVER< nothing was at Etten Leur, and the 2 inf I dropped off capped the spawnable.
2 minutes later, the infantry at Wurst got THIER spanable.
Knowing that Etten Leur is hard to take without armour, I directed EVERYONE to Wurst. Got an A13 and rolled the armour. Tyler01 had been getting some armour there before I arrived.
The infantry held the spawnables and actualy got all the flags before the main armour coloum arrived. DAC's secured the garage before the4 A13s got there. Etten Leur was used as a distraction.
2 A13's to the garage, everyone else to the infantry spawn. 22 minutes later, town is allied.
I later orgauizned inf only attacks while COMETUS and BkB attacked and secured Steenbergan.
----------
Conclusions:
German infantry watch spawnables...UNLESS there is so many towns with EWS going off they can't. EVERY TOWN on the BEF FRONT has EWS, which allowed the caps at Etten Leur and Wurstwesel to succed.
This was ONLY possible because nearly all FB's were allied!
This was the first sucsuffel attack I've lead this campain.

You just wait. WW2OL is bringing in Briagde Spawning. When that happens, you'll have players who spend all thier time on the map, watching to see if a Panzer Divsion is about to break through Sedan and order a Char briagde to move there. When they DO spawn in, their avaters have bright red hats that say SHOOT ME< IM AN OFFICER to every german within 200 kilometers. They are armed with a pistol and can't phyicaly order anyone else around (like a any good supply officer) because it's an online game and everyone else think's thier general Patton and Sargent York (often at the same time).

Hi, My name is Hinka. I joined an infantry unit. What did I do as soon as the game started? I jumped in a tank and drove it for less than 3 minutes and got killed. Then, I spawned infantry as I should have done in the first place and got killed. I didn't kill anybody. Then I quit early. Then I went to the forums to complain about it.

Post subject: I had fun.
Even though our platoon was only at 40% strength, because of the no-shows, 1st Platoon was well-led by Comstar. The other commanders also did an outstanding job leading the troops.
We got into a nasty infantry firefight in the woods east of Sedan, something that I have rarely seen in the game. I was also in the second wave through the forest. That was a pretty intense experience creeping around, hearing enemy rifle fire close by, but not being able to actually see them until they were less than 100m away. We pwned the Axis in that fight by flanking them under the leadership of Rabbitldr (sp?).
Last minute TS server change was frustrating (what is up with those Battlesim folks anyway? sheesh!), but at least the SET team got the word out on chat. A few other things didn't work right; no RGs or sappers available, chat going down, etc., but not enough to make me say that it was fubar. Things can go wrong and one just needs to work around the kinks and focus on the task at hand.
I had so much fun, I'm signing up for the Grudge Match.

Red vs Blue planning analysis
WWII Online :: View topic - Red Vs Blue, the good, the bad, and well...errr...just read.:
"Looking from the map and the german plans, they were unlikly to stop at least 1 group of bomber crews from RTBing, the german plan was too slow to get to Sedan before they did. AFAIK, no german units ever reached a blocking postion at the T Juction (I was there within 5 minutes of the end of the event, and my platoon passed through it 2 minutes later).
By the time the german attack on Sedan had commenced most of the fliers had already RTBed or were behind platoon 1, 2 and 3's llines.
The Southern bait attack was decisivly beaten off. The dagger attack actually didn't FACE anyone until people started dieing and respawning so it's not surpirsing it was able to attack Sedan in the first place. I think if it had attacked the EAST side of Sedan, and set up a blocking postion there, rather than the north, that would have caused a lot of problems, as french units retreating at the end came back in dribs and drabs."

Commander, 1st platoon of the French infantry Company A.
Formed up at the Sedan AB witb about 20 out of 30. 64 mess. Ordered platoon east to the Tjuction.
Still a 64mess at the T juction where another platoon had chossen to rally. Order platoon to the Forest NE for our assigned patrol.
On the way there was vis a 1/2 track (I saw it about 500m N)..which seemingly drops off a squad and then dissaperes. While searching for it, we come to the conclusion that it had dropped on the location of the support platoon and was hence dead.
Enter forest and engage an enemy infantry platoon at the SW cornor. Assault enemy postiton (how did they get there so fast??). Enemy platoon annilated, however, only 4 members of my platoon have surived. I saw one german myself, he fell to a flanking LMG near me.
While this was occuring one of the bomber crew teams was passing to our south and was unmolastered by any enemy units!
Platoon reforms at Sedan for 2nd wave under XO while the 4 of us hold at the forest. We hear and see an OPEL drop a squad off. An EI SMG sees me and I see him and we both shot each other.
I reform back at Sedan with 4 others while the majroity of the platoon is advancing back to the forest.
As I and my 3 man squad approch the forest, a PANZER II is reported, and is coming along the edge of the forest, right towards me. FORTUANLY, 2 R35's see him and angage his flank. The PZII never turns it's turrent or pops out it's commander, and is destroyed 4 FEET away from my bushline.
As I advance past the destoroyed panzer towards the forest, rifle shots crack out, and the squad of 3 and myself is destoryed.
Meanwhile, the majority of the platoon conducts a sweep of the forest in a long sckimish line, and destorys an enemy squad.
I spawn back at Sedan for a 2nd time and picked up 2 others. Reports of enemy infantry N of sedan. I move my small squad to the T juction to await 1st platoon which is still in the forest. Orders to fall back, so I fall back to Sedan and order the platoon to IMMIDATLY fall back to the T juction. I wait 4 minutes and then fall back by myself.
Meet an R35 at the base of the hill at Sedan and fell back to the AB. 1st platoon arrived 2 minutes later with only 1 reported causualty.
I estimate at least 2 enemty squads were desotroyed by my platoon, most probbaly 2 platoons total. By my platoons actions we allowed the bomber crews coming through our area to return to base, and I belive we decivisliy won our engamnents.
NOTE FOR EVENT TEAM: NO TS SERVER? WTF? Thanks to Badger for providing a TS server at a moments notice! It DID have problems at times, sometimes TS worked, sometimes it didn't.

The Achilles' Show aka Troy
Movie Review: The Achilles' Show aka Troy
I give it 7/10. Hector's pretty good, Paris gets to use a bow AGAIN and Brad Pitt sucks. The worst part of the film is Pitt, and a great deal of time is spent on him, to the detreiment of the movie. Chicks might dig him though, as he spends 1/3 of the movie topless. He deserved a far worse death than he got (compare HIS dieing to Sean Beam AND in LOTR:FOTR, and having Bean AND Orlando show up in the same battle only hilights it!).
Who killed Argamendon(sorry)? I'm confused if died at the end or not.
The fighting I think was resonably well done, MUCH better than idiotic asian stuff you normally get these days.
Hopefully it'll make enough money to do the Odyssey sequal that's crying out to be made, though you REALLY need to have the Gawds and monsters make an apperence. I can understand why they wern't in this movie, it's kinda full of characters as it is.
In conclusion, not bad for story 3500+ years old. Not bad at all.
Well we took Diest and Grob (Updated, more detail)
Logged in to spawn infantry in Grob, which was attirted. Walked into an empty bunker. Some Genius took the Grob-Osstmale depot in Osst, so I caped bunker.
I belive it started as infantry only attack on4 different towns, with some people keeping wurst contested for over an hour.
Meanwhile a pure infatry attack on Diest was going well. Rallied everyone to spawn armour and we rolled the 7 a13s in from the west. A matty was there before us, and after 15 minutes opf fighting, all PZ's Paks and 88's were dead.
The matty was drivin very well, He had set up werst of town about 200 meters from our depot. The a13's and vickies set up behind him. As PZ's and paks came around the cornors, they were destroyed.
Someone reported a PZ IV coming around the N side. I saw his cuopla abopve a bush line and fired twice through the bushes. Then his TURRENT came OVER the bushes. One dead PZ. Woot!
After awhile (and I think all panzers dead, when I killed a PZII I knew they were close to out) the matty moved into town and stayed on the west side of the road, so I moved my A13 to the road too. We stayed there and eliminated thier PAK guns. Stuka's arrived and proceded to kill all thwe A13's (inc my engine).
At one point 5 109's were HIGH overhead prociding orgaizned cap for the stuka's. I asked for and got a .allied and 5 minutes later the bombing stopped. Thanks to all the RAF.
Fiannly killed by a Stuka in the middle of town after my engine was KO'ed by a stuaker eailer. Spawneed rifleman, walked into the bunker, killed the sole Ei, killed the ei who came in after me and gurded cometus as he took the table.

Aomercy : CRS.... I beg you!!!!!
WWII Online :: View topic - CRS.... I beg you!!!!!
Aomercy is right.
I hope the rats not swanning around E3 are looking at the numbers online.
I can't do attacks anymore. Note like I used to. Because there's not enough people online to do it. Or if there ARE people online I CAN'T FIND THEM.
And no matter if these mytical side balancers who play at times I'm not online, or just all happening to play in Anhee while both the BEF and the rest of the French line is not moving, the result is the same.
CRS must do something. 1.14's gameplay changes of .fallback MAY fix it. But I doubt it. Until there is negative reiforcment for TOO MUCH success, it's just reinforce the problems. How many towns were lost today that had spawn lists > 1? Proabbly all of them I'd wager.
Supply lines for example, that lengthen and slow you do the better you do, would be the obvious answer.

Crap
The front line is totally static...except the french route has began.
Tried an attack on DIest with a diversion on St t. The diversion was 3 inf and a a13. The ATTACK was 1 matty, 4 a13's and 4 inf. And a plane that showed up. Attirted all german armour, and got nowhere. Fiasco.
I now belive that the allies morale is broken. Unless something is added or changed by the rats by 1.14, the allies morale will dissapear, and no one will be playing.
Shit.

I wounder who they were. Got a few damages, nio kills. Saw some spectauclr crashes. A 110 disintergrwated right over the tank spawn. WOAH.
Anyways, it's day 1 and the germans are attacking along the entire front. WTF!?!?1 Ther're supposed to be TIRED dammit. They won last time. It's our turn dammit.

Well, with about 5 hours so since launch, the BEF is stalled and the French making a slight advance down South.

Arcording to This sites, I'm ranked around 280 out of 350 40K players in Australia. My painting is around 150(!?!?) and my sports around 160(!?!?).
So it looks like I could be much much worse at 40K! That makes me happy.
Last yearm I was 226 out of 400 or so.
The New York Times > Washington > Harsh C.I.A. Methods Cited in Top Qaeda Interrogations
Arcoding to the NY times: The New York Times > Washington > Harsh C.I.A. Methods Cited in Top Qaeda Interrogations. 2nd Paragraph. Torture. Illegel. A crime. Probably gets BAD results because people undergoing this will tell you anything you want to hear, not the truth. IT DOSN"T WORK.
The US has lost this war. They can't win it.
Shit.

WASHINGTON, May 12 — The Central Intelligence Agency has used coercive interrogation methods against a select group of high-level leaders and operatives of Al Qaeda that have produced growing concerns inside the agency about abuses, according to current and former counterterrorism officials.
At least one agency employee has been disciplined for threatening a detainee with a gun during questioning, they said.
In the case of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, a high-level detainee who is believed to have helped plan the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, C.I.A. interrogators used graduated levels of force, including a technique known as "water boarding," in which a prisoner is strapped down, forcibly pushed under water and made to believe he might drown.

Damm impressive.
-------------------------------------------------------
Captain Brian R. Chontosh - The Navy Cross
While leading his platoon north on Highway 1 toward Ad Diwaniyah, Chontosh's platoon moved into a coordinated ambush of mortars, rocket propelled grenades and automatic weapons fire. With coalitions tanks blocking the road ahead, he realized his platoon was caught in a kill zone.
He had his driver move the vehicle through a breach along his flank, where he was immediately taken under fire from an entrenched machine gun. Without hesitation, Chontosh ordered the driver to advanced directly at the enemy position enabling his .50 caliber machine gunner to silence the enemy.
He then directed his driver into the enemy trench, where he exited his vehicle and began to clear the trench with an M16A2 service rifle and 9 millimeter pistol. His ammunition depleted, Chontosh, with complete disregard for his safety, twice picked up discarded enemy rifles and continued his ferocious attack.
When a Marine following him found an enemy rocket propelled grenade launcher, Chontosh used it to destroy yet another group of enemy soldiers.
When his audacious attack ended, he had cleared over 200 meters of the enemy trench, killing more than 20 enemy soldiers and wounding several others.
Pfc. Joseph B. Perez - The Navy Cross
1st Platoon came under intense enemy fire while clearing near Route 6 during the advance into Baghdad. Perez, the point man for the lead squad, and therefore the most exposed member of the platoon, came under the majority of these fires.
Without hesitation, he continuously fired his M16A4 rifle to destroy the enemy while calmly directing accurate fires for his squad. He led the charge down a trench destroying the enemy and while closing and under tremendous enemy fire, threw a grenade into a trench that the enemy was occupying.
While under a heavy volume of fire, Perez fired an AT-4 rocket into a machine gun bunker, completely destroying it and killing four enemy personnel. His actions enabled the squad to maneuver safely to the enemy position and seize it.
In an effort to link up with 3rd Platoon on his platoon's left flank, Perez continued to destroy enemy combatants with precision rifle fire. As he worked his way to the left, he was hit by enemy fire, sustaining gunshot wounds to his torso and shoulder. Despite being seriously injured, Perez directed the squad to take cover and gave the squad accurate fire direction to the enemy that enabled the squad to reorganize and destroy the enemy.
Cpl. Armand E. McCormick - Silver Star
Under heavy fire McCormick, a lance corporal at the time, exhibited exceptional bravery when the lead elements of his battalion were ambushed with mortars, rocket propelled grenades, and squad automatic weapons fire. Fearlessly he drove his lightly armored vehicle directly at an enemy machine gun position and purposely crashed it into an occupied trench line.
With the initial breach of the enemy defense now gained for his unit, he sprang from the vehicle and began assaulting the berm and ambush line with two Marines. Taking direct fire, and outnumbered, he pressed forward, firing his M9 pistol at enemy forces. Moving through the trench, he repeatedly came under enemy fire, each time calmly taking well-aimed shots.
As the group ran low on ammunition, he collected enemy rifles and a rocket-
propelled grenade and continued to press the attack forward several hundred meters. As
a follow-on company began to make their entrance into the berm, he returned to his vehicle and backed it out of the trench. McCormick's boldly aggressive actions greatly reduced the enemy's ability to inflict casualties on the rest of his battalion.
Cpl. Robert P. Kerman - Silver Star
Kerman exhibited exceptional bravery when the lead elements of the battalion were ambushed with mortars, rocket propelled grenades and automatic weapons fire.
As the vehicle he was traveling in drove directly into machine gun fire and into a trench line, Kerman sprang from the vehicle and began assaulting down the enemy occupied trench with two other Marines. As the enemy soldiers fired at him, he fearlessly plunged towards them firing his M16 with lethal accuracy. Continuing to move through the trench he repeatedly came under enemy fire.
Each time he would calmly occupy a steady firing position and take well-aimed shots that had devastating effects in the enemy.
As the group ran out of ammunition, they pressed forward 200 to 300 meters utilizing captured enemy AK-47s.
He showed no regard for his own personal safety, and his actions directly contributed to the successful outcome of the engagement.
Cpl. Timothy C. Tardif - Silver Star
During the At Tarmiyah Battle, located 30 kilometers north of Baghdad, Tardif and his squad reinforced his platoon, which was pinned down in a violent enemy crossfire ambush.
Immediately assessing the situation, he directed Marines to return fire into enemy positions in a town. He identified the location of the enemy, and determined the precise point in which to assault the enemy.
Tardif then charged across a road under intense small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire, inspiring his Marines to follow his example. Engaged in an intense close-quarters battle, he received shrapnel wounds from an enemy grenade. Tardif refused medical attention and continued leading his squad in an assault on an enemy-held compound.
After securing the compound, Tardif egressed on order and led his reinforced squad in a fighting withdrawal. Tardif collapsed after traveling 150 meters from wounds suffered during fighting.
10-1 odds arn't good odds
Speaking of the Ex-Cinc...
Hi if he's reading this! Boy, I think every platoon commander took you're insulting message to heart and fired back with dignity and honor. I'll be interested to see if he comes back from that engagement with a plan, as opposed to a wangfest he was waving around in everyone's faces.
Note to any axis players in Red Vs Blue: The allies have a plan and it's a good one. The COMMANDER's all like it. Consoltation, consideration and well thoughout REASONING was an exxecelt way to plan, and is far more fun that one dictator assigning everyone a postion to die in.
It'll be interesting to see the axis plan after the battle. The battle itself I expect to be confusing, and the plan won't survive contact with the enemy anyway :)
Yikes! Someone DOES read this thing?!!?
AKAIK, that makes two people other than myself who have ever read this thing.
I wounder how the 2nd one found me? The first one was through the contininung rants about one of the event fiasco's.
Christ, I might have to start commenting on WW2OL more often if there's a chance anyone might read this.
Note to self: Next campgain: write a log of the campain from my point of view. Even if it's just like now, and continusily losing and seeing the front move 5 towns a night is demoiralziing.

Feeling good about Red vs Blue
Unlike Transam's times as CinC's, I feel good about this battle. The CInC has some good ideas, was open to new ones and the plan looks good.
ALL slots are full a week before the event, and with it being pretty balanced, I think we have a fair chance of having lots of fun, if not winning.
I just replied in scathing terms to an ex-failed-CINC who dosn't know what's he's talking about.

Post subject: For my Axis comrades:
Guys, I gotta warn you, before the next scenario:
After talking with my gunner, vonpav, I have pieced together the incident that occured at the end of today's scenario, while we were positioned in our P4 just outside the Calais city bunker.
The scenario must just have ended, and there must have been an announcement of the British victory. Vonpav, who did not see any of these messages, tells me that a Brit emerged from the bunker at this time and headed towards the rear of our tank. Vonpav spotted him, and swivelled the main turret towards him. Vonpav reports that the brit stopped and began to SALUTE out tank. Vonpav, unfamiliar wiht this maneuver, thought that the fellow must have hit a wrong key, and EMPTIED THE COAX MG into the fellow's belly.
This fellow collapsed to the ground. Hearing the firing, I glanced at vonpav's screen, which was next to mine,, and spotted this fellow on the ground. Unaware of the events that had just occured, I assumed that he was crawling towards us to plant a charge, so I quickly threw the tank into reverse and backed over him, then into forward and ran over him again.
At that moment, brits started pouring from the bunker and all the buildings around us, conducting what we thought were last minute attacks to try and claim a panzer kill, so both Vonpav and I opened up with our MG's , and he with HE as well. We started to get 'CeaseFire' orders from the 'system', but as it seemed we were under attack from all sides we kept up our firing, and as the situation seemed hopeless, i threw the tank into gear, and raced West out of town on the main road. As we left we were pursued by a crowd of brits on foot, shooting away and throwing what appeared to be grenades. While we couldn't hear their commo, thank goodness, from reading their lips, we couold make out words that I prefer not to repeat in public.
In retrospect, upon reflecting upon the event in its totality, it seems most probable that the Brits were not in fact, emerging to attack us, but to celebrate their victory, and very likely to gather for a group photo. I report this 'Calais Incicent', as a warning, that there will most likely be a group of very pissed off Allies out there, who will probably not be too keen on taking prisoners next time. For this vonpav and I apologize. We're not sorry that we killed those lousy Tommies, though. Who do they think they are, running out like that in the middle of a battle to celebrate! :-) Forewarned is forearmed, as they say.
S!
