WWII Online :: View topic - What allied squad just capped Paal?
I think my last operation as Brigade Commander, I can take some credit.
We had an over stockerd Diest from the attack on THERE 3 hours eialier. 3 Matties, 13 A13s and 9 Vickes. The entire Armoured spawn list, locked and loaded in 5 minutes. A JU spotted us and then spent the next 15 minutes NOT getting shot down by 5+ RAAF fighters and a Havoc.
Havn't seen or lead such a armoured assault in MONTHS. We managed to FUXOR the depot cap (lead by yours truly, I was the LMG killed trying to cap it the first time).
We lost ALL the armour outside the AB and had none of the depots...3 truck rides later we got the west depot and from there it was all very methodical. 15+ boats were destoryed at the docks while we we waited too.
2nd Divsion thanks you for the fight, and hopes to see you again in Masstrict. Thank you for you time.
And to all the members of 4th BDE and 2nd DIV and BEF who have PUT UP WITH MY ALL CAPS SHOUTING-
THANK YOU ALL.

WASHINGTON -- The FBI is warning police nationwide to be alert for people carrying almanacs, cautioning that the popular reference books covering everything from abbreviations to weather trends could be used for terrorist planning.
In a bulletin sent Christmas Eve to about 18,000 police organizations, the FBI said terrorists may use almanacs "to assist with target selection and pre-operational planning."

Doc has REPEATLY said that the stratagic air war is balanced
But the GERMAN naval attacks ARN'T balanced! They give the Axis a totally Unhistorical ADVANATAGE.
You want to keep bombarding the clam facotry? Fine, we get Lancasters.
And Doc, knowing that at SOME POINT in some FUTURE campgain the allies can do the same dosn't change anything NOW does it?? Knowing that in campgain #15 the allies will gain SOME parity (yet again, we don't have it) I'm sure will be some consolation knowing that the axis have been blowing up our factories for who knows how many maps beforehand.
Move the factory inland. Make it a dummy facility or something.
Either fix the inbalance or add allied inbalance to the staratgic air war. One or the other."
What REALLY happened to Beagle 2
FARK Photoshop what's happening to all our Mars probes.

And now, to contribute a small part in GB's downfall
How many vacation days has George W. Bush taken to date as president?
According to an August 2003 article in the Washington Post, President Bush has spent all or part of 166 days during his presidency at his Crawford, Texas, ranch or en route. Add the time spent at or en route to the presidential retreat of Camp David and at the Bush family estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Bush has taken 250 days off as of August 2003. That's 27% of his presidency spent on vacation. Although to be fair, much of this time is classified as a "working vacation."
That's some job ethic there. It's good to be the king.

No one has seen such a battle since the paricapents of Waterloo. Even the US Civil War battles were over larger area's. I read a review today of an idiot who said the battle was TOO big! BAH!

If CRS doesn't change thier policy regarding the level of information and authority that the brigade CO's are allowed, deployment is doomed to failure, with the game not far beyond that.
Personnly, I think he's absoluty right.
Hell, WHEN WE GET DEPLOYMENT, ANYONE might end being a Briagde Commander, simply because there's no else online! And any Briagde Commander is going to be VERY easy to be in charge of a divsion so eaisly it's going to be commenplace.
You reallyu think 10 people are enough to cotrol a Division 24 hours a day 7 days a week? Or even 30? Ha! Not going to happen. You're going to litrrtryl get JoeBlow the 2nd Lt in charge and with the power to do whatever he wants with a Brigade some nights.
Now I know Depolyment is all up in the air right now, but CRS is presubly working on it right NOW to be introduced in the next 3-6 MONTHS. ANd we're going to be facing sitautions where people who don't KNOW what's going on be givin POWER. And with this power will come respobiblity,....which most people don't know about, little lone care about. And what fun will THAT be when people who have NEVER heard of any officers doctrines or whatever then get in trouble for absuing some system the've nebver probably heard of because they don't come here and on play the GAME ITSELF.
24 hours to find a Briagde Commander?!?!?!? Christ, SOME of us have lives and play (gasp) OTHER games. We all don't have MS messanger or see higher commanders on TS every 12 hours.
FLEXIBILITY. It's a GAME. You can't ORDER ANYONE. Only REQUEST. As soon as directed-must-be-followed-or-kicked orders start being kicked out, you'll get FAR more people LEAVING than JOINING for THAT 'privalge'.

The list of what needs fixing
MEANWHILE, the havoc is having it's bombload cut in half!!!
Allied Headquarters :: View topic - The list of what needs fixing
#1) Spit1, Blen and Hurri1 armour. Thanks to Smallwoy we have plenty of evidence they should be in game. Doc stated the Rats will have a look at the data and make a decision on it.
#2) SpitV and Hurri2 20mm ammo. Also plenty of evidence that it should at the least have a mix of 50/50 Ball/HE-I. After '42 it changed to AP-I/HE-I.
#3) SpitV compression. One of the rats stated a couple of weeks back that there was an error with the SpitV model and it was using the Spit1 compression data, which was causing it to compress way to early. No mention of fix though in 1.11 readme.
#4) 500lb bombs for Hurri2c. With the introduction of the P39, both France and Germany's Tier 1 CAS plane have comparable bombs (250KG/200KG). The RAF is stuck with the marshmellow 250lb bomb. The bombracks on the Hurri2c were able to carry 250lb OR 500lb bombs from the start.
#5) 500lb bombs for the BlenIV. The Blen was able to and did carry 500lb bombs. Not sure when from, or how many. Anyone got the info?
#6) Lack of strategic bombers for FAF and RAF. Given Germany had the lightest bombers of the 3 nations, its odd they have been given the heaviest in game. France and Britain need a proper strategic bomber - and its not like there aren't a few to choose from. Instead we have been given light attack bombers instead doing jobs they didn't do.
#7) CAS bomber for the FAF. The Blen has been a place holder for the French for far to long. The DB7 needs to take it proper place and replace the Blen. Ties in with #6.
#8) Very poor performance of MGs in the air war. Yes, MG ammo was less effectiven than cannon ammo, but not to the extent seen in this game. The Germans didn't loose over 1000 aircraft in the BoF and more than that in the BoB because MGs were useless - they lost them becasue MGs could actually KILL planes.
#9) JU Panzerstukawagen 87. What needs to be said? Far, far, far to hard to shoot down compared to reality. You came across a gaggle of unescorted Stukas in reality and you got a bunch of fairly easy kills.
#10) Denerf the Matty and Char. In reality these were frighteningly hard to kill. 20mm and 37mm ammo had no hope. Ingame anything can kill them give the mismodelled weak spots on both of them.
#11) Improve ROF of British guns. For whatever reason British guns have a slower rate of fire than Germans ones. The French ones have a lower ROF to represent 1 man turrets, but the British didn't have one man turrets. Oddly enough there is no penalty for the Pz38t.
#12) Denerf French disperssion. You might as well just close your eyes and shoot blindly - you'd have about the same chance of hitting twice in a row as if you aimed.
#13) A starting AC for the BEF. There is certainly a hole there that needs filling - it could be filled by either the Humber of the South African built Marmon-Herrington.
#14) A starting heavy gun for the BEF. Now everyone is getting the Bofors, the BEF needs something to fill the SaMle37/FlaK36 - somethinkg like the 18pdr issued to divisional anti tank regiments.
#15) HE clipping bug affecting both sides but benefitting the side with most HE (Axis) killing heavy tanks with 20mm HE rounds
#16) The lack of a real RN. Despite everything else in game having numbered ratios that compare (roughly) to the ratio of the vehicles as they existed in the real war, the Naval element still lacks any form of historicalness. the KM is the same size as the RN for some odd reason
#17) Missing periscopes from French tanks so the driver can see while buttoned up.
#1 The ability for French tanks to unbutton their commander
#19) The outrageous dispersion on the vickers MG's. The MG34 on the 232 as an example is like a laser.
#20) A HE delivery system for the BEF thats worth a damm.
#21) A full audit on the p3h. It still survives direct hits from british 250lb bombs and keeps on driving while the p3f doesn't. Seeing as they're pretty much the same tank, something is buggered.
#22) Missing glass in the hurricane IIc's front windscreen. The armoured glass is missing, as is any type of glass at all. The frame is empty on the DM.
#23) Training ammo loaded into the RAF's cannon. Yes, the ammo thats loaded into the RAF cannon is clearly marked on RAF loadout sheets as training ammo.
#24 Missing optics for Daimler, S35, and other vehicles.
#25 Incorrect modelling of Lee Enfield Rifle. Should reload faster. Should not take longer yo load unless you've used more than five rounds.
#26 2lber dispersion at ranges 500-800m. Its barn door time.
#27 MG34s being able to penetrate Vickers/Daimler/Panhard and worst of all, A13s!!!!!!!!!! yet allied LMGs cannot penetrate the 232 (in my experiance) despite it having lighter armour than all of the above.
#28 A way of entering (from the outside on foot)a depo or barracks owned by your side for cleaning perposes; or auto despawn (after a set time limit) for unfriendlys that remain inside. This problem will only get worce when the new barracks model is put in.
#29) 110 Tailgunner reloads the Cannon even if he is dead (I don't think it has been fixed with the DM Audit, can't remember reading anything about it)
It's a TRAP!
Note the radio text.

The Truth will set you free. .
Allied Headquarters :: View topic - Nevermind, Bable and crew have shown what thier made of...
The issue is this-
AHC didn't inform it's members below General rank until a few days before CRS did. Neither did the GHC, though it seems the GHC didn't really inform it's generals either.
And the problems we have, with the total collapse of morale, is a direct result.
IF the allied player (who was not abusing the bug anywhere) has been informed fully, the result would have been the same- CRS makes an offical annoucment, it gets banned. HOWEVER, it would have happened 2 WEEKS ago rather than a a few days beforehand. The GHC would have been FORCED to police it members. As would the AHC. I think we can all agree, if the Betrix fiasco had been elimiteated, the map wouldn't be in the state it is in.
The secrecy involved only HURT the game. The axis players abusing the bgu continued to abuse it (in fact went into overdrive) and only ceased when the resulting tidel wave of anger from the allied player base forced CRS to act before the release of the 1.11 patch.
If there had been a public statement by AHC, GHC and CRS weeks ago, when the bug was first alereted, there would still have been a lot of locked posts in the barracks, but it would have been OVER and DONE with instead of contining for a month.
The secrecy did more far harm than good.

I will not discuss diciplinary actions in the public, and certainly not outside the OKW-environment. And now, a sum up of the events of the last 72 hours.
Waterthread.org Forums -> WWIIO
I was going to write this up and mabye submit it, but eh.
Other games get bugs that break the econamy. WW2OL gets bugs that break LOGESTICS.
Here's what happened-
Back in 1.8, supply rules came into place. They allow you to move tanks/planes/men/boats from one place to a front line town, and over stock the amout of units normally there. Towns with multiple Army Bases close to each other, can obviusoly overstock themselves a lot quicker because travel times are short. Units lost in action are SUPPOSED to take 3 hours to replace.
SOMETIME ago, some axis players found out you could quicken the resupply time from 3 hours, to 3 minutes. or less. And they didn't tell anyone. This inlcues high ranking players in the German High Command (GHC). Judging by the amout of panzers I've seen, it's been happening for months in multiple AB towns.
2 weeks ago a german player told an allied player the bug existsed (though not how to do it). Allied player posts on allied fourms, where another axis player confirms the bug exists.
Allied High Command goes to CRS and asks= Does this bug exist? CRS answer- Nope. AHC command posts that no bug exists.
SOooooooo...a squad mate of mine saw this, and we (and allied squad) had some discuission over this. How was it possible? This unnamed allid Genuis worked out from first princables how the bug was done.
But CRS has TOLD the AHC it dosn't exist. So this unnamed, and dare I say, heroic (no it wasn't me) player TESTS the bug in Sedan, the only front line 2 AB town on the allied front at this time. 2 others helped but essentialy it was one person. This player isn't a beta tester so he couldn't test it there, and it dosn't work on the training server. He HAD to test it on the live server.
12 hours later of work, there's 100+ S35's and 50+ CharB's. This is commincuated to allied high command at ALL levels that ther bug DOES exist, and how to do it (who sends it onward to CRS). It's also sent to the closed beta team, so I hear, for CRS viewing. Doing on the live server also allowed CRS to view the logs so they could see how it happened.
The shit has not yet hit the fan. The AHC post about how the bug does not exist is...deleted. The jig is up. The AHC sends out an order that the bug is now TOSable and illegel. Any AHC officer doing it will be kicked out. it is PRESUMED that the GHC is doing a simulr thing.....
MEANWHILE...the French have been attacking Bertix, an important axis airfield for the last week. Huge, continues attacks that get nowhere. The axis starts a breakout. And someone checks the Bertix AB supply lists.
600+ Panzers and over 1000+ infantry. (The normal amout is 20 panzers and 500 infantry). THE JIG IS UP!...or so we thought. A shitstorm appers on the allied and playnet fourms. Bertix's AB's are unique in being VERY close to each other, so it is THE town to abuse the bug.
The french assaults on bertix fails for the last time, and is thrown back.
THE NEXT DAY....the GHC attacks Metz. If Metz falls, the entire southern right wing of the French lines will collapese. GHC OFFICERS POST MISSONS in Thionville to abuse the bug to attack Metz.
SHITSTORM REDOUBLED on the fourms. Metz falls. The right wing of the French front collsaopses back 200km's in a day. Masses of French players quit in frustration. GHC and axis players continue to deny thr bug exists and/or blame the allies for doing the same thing ONCE as a TEST in Sedan. GHC units continue to abuse the bug in every multiple AB town they can get thier hands on (Dinent and Vouziers, which incerdently now has exlpained why the French coudln't capture that town last map too).
Fiannly today Gopher CRS rat makes an annoucment that any abuse of the bug by ANYONE will result in TOS. This is little consolation to the allies, who have lost 50 towns in 2 days thanks to the shattering morale problem of reilasing they've been fighting aginast a bunch of cheats. The French line is now BEHIND Rhiems. Most allied players consider the map void and a waste of time (though the BEF is in a very strong postion near the Rhur, it too has had it's morale shatted and is falling back, though slowly).
A patch to PREVENT the problem is scheucled for next week.

There's a communication breakdown - I, for certain, never knew this was considered an exploit.
There's lots of bugs in the game that get used. Tree climbing is a bug, and like it or lump it, when you climb a tree you are, by the book, exploiting a bug.
I didn't do this megastocking. I have better things to do, even though it was plainly obviously possible from the way the supply system works. I don't know, maybe I'm just that much of a 'systems guy' and it's not obvious to a lot of others... I've sure had to take time explaining WHY it needs to be watched out for to my squadmates, so maybe I'm abnormal that way.
I didn't do it because it's lame. Not because it's exploiting, because as I detailed above not all exploiting is cheating. It's subjective... unless you plan on banning everyone who has ever climbed a tree, you better not try to play that as an absolute.
Now, since 'lame' is even more subjective, if there's any problems with GHC getting word out about 'thou shalt not', then it's hard to blame folks for being cheating. Being gamey - hell yeah, blame them all you want.
GHC really needs to start posting this stuff in the OPEN FORUMS though. None of this 'must be an officer in the GHC to read these' forums for 'THIS IS CONSIDERED CHEATING' stuff. Too few will bother going through the hoops to get into the existing secure forums, and this stuff needs to be disclosed fully anyways, at least to the degree that people can recognize that it's going on.
Edit: damn, I must be getting tired. That's verging on incoherent. 2:45 AM, time for bed"

The ONLY honerable thing to have done was for the GHC TO TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY and givin Bertix to the French. Nothing else.
Instead they continused to abuse the bug, took Metz with it, and CONTINUE TO ABUSE THE BUG EVEN TODAY.
WHAT PART OF UNEXCEPTABLE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?
Every german player who spawned a panzer from one of these illegel stockpiles is tainted. The fact that you continue to do so shows you don't care STILL.
Will you give up Dinet? I thought so. You can't bare the thought of giving up your exploited stockpile."

Just so you know, I practically handed the allies at least 2 map wins with this. I was the first and most effective. Still the best. For the allies I supplied at least 300 tanks a night for 2 entire maps. I guess I gave the axis some ideas while I was over here. Oops. :) Actually a Rat poped into a town while I was doing this back when I was allied and complimented me on the creativeness, intellegence, and hard work it too. I of course was spending 8 or 9 hours every night doing nothing but resupply, but boy does it have an affect.
I garuntee this has nothing to do with what side you're on. I created and mastered this as an Ally. I did it for a night and show my squadies some tricks, then I lose my internet connection for 2 days, come back, and we're winning the map.
You know.. when I told you all what would happen.. no one listened. You ignored me. I posted many times on the fate of this map. Don't act suprised. Everything happened according to plan."

F the GHC has ANY Honour it would surrender Bertix Immidatly to the allies. This is a disgrace and reflects on them. Only members of squads of the GHC could have done this, and hence the GHC should be held responsible.
WHAT ACTION HAS THE GHC TAKEN? None it seems.

Attachment to media release 350/2003 dated 09 December 2003
Major force deployments at present include:
Operation Catalyst
Operation Catalyst is Australia's contribution to the rehabilitation of Iraq. The Australian Joint Task Force Headquarters in the Middle East is responsible for ADF maritime, land and air elements deployed on both Operation Catalyst and Operation Slipper (Australia's contribution to the war against terrorism). Operation Catalyst comprises approximately 850 personnel.
Operation Slipper
Operation Slipper is Australia's contribution to the war against terrorism. A RAAF AP-3C Orion detachment is conducting maritime patrol operations, with one aircraft and associated command and support elements supporting both the rehabilitation operation in Iraq and the Coalition operation against terrorism.
Operation Citadel
The UN Mission in Support of East Timor (UNMISET) was established by UN resolution 1272/99 on 25 October 2000 and implemented on East Timor's Independence Day, 20 May 2002. Australia provides about 25% of the Peace Keeping Force, consisting of an infantry battalion group (including an infantry company from Fiji), headquarters personnel and UN Military Observers. The number of ADF personnel deployed on Operation Citadel is 440.
Operation Anode
Operation Anode is the ADF's contribution to the Australian led Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands known as Operation HELPEM FREN. The Australian contribution comprises approximately 550 Australian Defence Force personnel, Australian Federal Police and personnel from the Australian Protective Service to the multinational stabilisation force. Military personnel from Australia, Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea provide security for police assisting the Solomon Islands Government to restore law and order. They are also assisting with logistic and operational support.
Middle East - Operation Paladin
Operation Paladin is Australia's contribution to the UN Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO). UNTSO was established in 1948 to supervise the truce agreed at the conclusion of the first Arab/Israeli War and operates in Israel, Syria, and Lebanon. Australian personnel have been part of this mission since 1956. Some members of the Australian contingent may be employed as staff officers in the UNTSO Headquarters in Jerusalem or military observer headquarters in Tiberias (Israel), Damascus (Syria), or Nacquorar (Lebanon). The current ADF commitment is 11 personnel.
Bosnia - Operation Osier
Operation Osier is Australia's contribution to the NATO-led, UN mandated Yugoslavia Security Force (SFOR) and Kosovo Force (KFOR). Eight Australian Defence personnel are currently employed with UK forces in Bosnia, and Croatia. ADF personnel are fully integrated with British units or headquarters and gain significant experience in peacekeeping operations. These personnel provide staff officer functions in logistics, engineering, artillery, operational planning and civil-military cooperation projects.
Sinai - Operation Mazurka
Operation Mazurka is Australia's contribution to the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) in the Sinai. The MFO was established in 1981 to oversee the Camp David Accords of 1978 and the Egypt/Israel Peace Treaty of 1979. There are 25 Australians who assist in the peace process by monitoring the border and preparing daily operational briefings, and support to the Headquarters. In addition to these staff functions, Australians undertake an important force training function that includes physical training.
Eritrea and Ethiopia - Operation Pomelo
Australia contributes two Army officers to the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE). The UNMEE mission includes monitoring the cessation of hostilities, troop deployments and the temporary security zone between the two countries. The mission also provides assistance to the Ethiopian and Eritrean Border Commission talks on marking the international border. The Australian contribution is on the UNMEE Force Headquarters where they undertake staff functions that include geo-spatial expertise and force training advice.
Afghanistan - Operation Palate
Following the ADF's significant and successful role in Afghanistan as part of the International Coalition Against Terrorism, the ADF has now provides one Army officer who is deployed as a military liaison officer to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). The military liaison officers' function is to establish and maintain liaison with Coalition forces, the Nato led International Security Assistance Force and the emerging Afghan Army. UNAMA integrates all UN activities in Afghanistan, focusing on rebuilding Afghanistan institutions.
Southern Ocean - Operation Mistral
The Australian Defence Force supports Coastwatch and AFMA by providing support to the civil agencies enforcing Australian sovereign rights and fisheries laws in the Southern Oceans. Military patrols are regularly undertaken in support of these civil authorities. Actions to date have successfully apprehended foreign fishing vessels with million of dollars of illegal catch on-board.
Northern Australia and Sea Air Approaches - Operation Cranberry
This is Northern Australia's sea, air and land surveillance program, undertaken primarily by RAN Fremantle Class Patrol Boats and Army Reserve personnel from the Regional Force Surveillance Unit, in support of civil agencies such as Coastwatch and Customs, to detect illegal activity such as smuggling and illegal fishing.
Australian border protection - Operation Relex II
This is the Australian Defence Force operation which contributes to the whole of government program to detect, intercept and deter vessels carrying unauthorised arrivals from entering Australia through the North-West maritime approaches. Operation Relex II includes naval, air force and army units supported by Coastwatch and Customs.

Advice to a newbie commander
Apologies for what? Leo's allied isn't it? :)
ANYONE who stands up to be a commander has nothing to apologies for if the attack fails. And a commanders PC has a 9/10 chance of failing at the crucial time no matter what.
One of the great things about this squad is that there is a LOT of people willing to take change, or try and take charge, or just can't stand around and see people running around and standing around.
I have destroyed far more armour supply lists in command than I have ever resupplied :). EVERY other commander of a attack or defence in WW2OL can tell you the same thing. FUBAR's HAPPEN TO EVERYONE. Drove 20 A13's right into the AI? Done that. Commanded EVERYONE IN CAPS to attack and secure the WRONG depot for 30 minutes? Done that. Ordered everyone to spend an hour moving 50 tanks from 1 AB to the other...the wrong one? Done that.
Command is not simple, or easy or FOOLPROOF. The enemy is cunning, tends to have surpiour weapons, watches our comm channels, belittles us on playschool and does have commanders on thier side too, some of whom (not many!) are just as good as the best we have. They also have Stukas. Like anything else, command takes practice and fails ALL the time.
I think the average allied attack FAILS every 2 out of every 3 occuions. But if we didn't have people willing to TRY and command, it would be a failure 99 out of 100 (that 1 time is when no germans spawn in at all).
Personlly, I didn't notice anything wrong at all, my frame rate's so bad! :) I don't know of anything you need to say sorry for.

If I fire a gun at one of the buttons on my TV remote control, will the remote have enough time to send a signal to change channel before it is destroyed?

We all know how frustrating it is to be lying on the couch watching TV and discover the remote control has been left over the other side of the room. But we recommend readers do not resort to shooting the remote without adequate supervision from qualified military personnel.

Does anyone by chance have a link to information on the numbers and disposition of the BEF armor during the battle of france from May 10 until June 1st.
From what I cant tell british armor engaged the german panzer divisions at only two places, Arras and Calais/Boulogne.
Does anyeone have info contradicting this?

I have full confidence the Germans had Tiger II's and Jagtigers. Meanwhile the BEF had Mark I* female WW1 Tanks.
I know this because I have a feeling why he's asking.
It's a scenerio folks. And I'm sure it'll be as balance as all the others have been.

HATCH SAYS:
I know the Spit V is off and has been since it was created in WWIIOL. How do I know? Because after reading all the threads in here and taking a look, I noticed that it has the exact same aileron reversal numbers as the MkI. Better ailerons, but same wing twist coefficient. In other words, whoever created the Spit V model cut and pasted some component parts (which we all do because it subtantially speeds up the creation process) but missed changing that "line" to represent the newer model. When I rebuilt the models, I left that part of the plane alone because to the best of my knowledge at the time, no one had found it and started complaining about it until recently after it had already gotten by me during the 1.9 audit. I had my hands full at the time trying to get them ALL done by 1.9 and since noone complained about that before and it didnt show up in the wind tunnel proggy, it was one part of that flight model that I assumed was fine and left it alone.

Post subject: The "Gospel" of our God - TANK
1. In the beginning there was mud, the trenches and the barbed wire, and the greatest scourge of all - the machine gun. This made the cavalry sore afraid and they prayed for redemption, but redemption was not at hand.
2. The dashing people retired from the field of battle and preyed to their strange gods - Sabre, Lance and Carbine and made abstinence to their great god victory, Horse, praying for delivery.
3. Their cry`s did not fall on deaf ears, from the west came the chosen people, worshipers of new and potent gods, Firepower, Armour and mobility the minor deities of the truly great god TANK .
4. The chosen people, a kindly and Christian people, headed the cries of the cavalry and smote their enemies and drove them from the battlefield.
5. Many were the prayers given unto the chosen people and their god of gods TANK, who had brought deliverance unto the cavalry, the dashing people.
6. But the dashing people turned from the god TANK and their gratitude was soon forgot and they turned to their former gods Sabre, Lance, Carbine and Horse.
7. But the chosen people sent out missionaries to spread the word of the god TANK, and eventually some of the dashing people headed the word and followed the path of righteousness and prayed to the TANK and were Converted.
8. First among the dashing people were the tribe of the cherry trousers and they were greatly honoured for seeing the light and joining the chosen people.
9. But there were amongst the dashing people the unbelievers who refused to be converted.
10. But in the east there rose a great pestilence Adolf, son of Shickelgruber and this made the Pharisees tremble and some of the unbelievers were converted.
11. The pestilence spread among the lands and great was the cry unto the mighty god TANK and the chosen people and some of the dashing people smote Adolf, son of shickelgruber and drove him from the battlefield.
12. And the remainder of the dashing people were converted and made homage to Firepower, Armour, Mobility and TANK.
13. And among the chosen people rejoiced and welcomed the dashing people to there fold and they all became as one and there is only one god and his name is TANK.
14. The chosen people now number many but the greatest among them are the ones who spread the word and converted the unbelievers and are called "TANKERS".

Post subject: The Book of Noob
Chapter 1
Creation. The Dawn of Noob. First Flight. Tail Wheel. Torque. Stall. The first Hanger fly-through and the first Tree. Online. RTFM. In the Weeds. First Contact. Bandits. Turning. Burning. Trim. Rebirth. Despair. The Gods speak again. More Despair. Happily ever after.
1
In the Beginning there was Light in Texas, Pixel upon Pixel of Light, and then there were Aeroplanes. And when there were Aeroplanes there was great Joy upon the Earth and above the Earth, for then there were also Individuals of great Daring and Confidence to pilot them. They were known amongst themselves as Fighter Pukes, yet to the Appearance of Gods they were all Noobs. And it was good.
2
So beginneth the Story and so it be told for ever more. In the Beginning all were Noobs. And the Noobs beget a second Generation of Pilots, bearing the Family Name and in all respects similar to their Forefathers, and that too was good.
3
On the first Day of Installation the Fighter Pukes bang'd their Chests and strapp'd their Bodies into Machines of wondrous Matter, to immediately prove their Mettle. Yet despite Curses of increasing strength and foulness their Craft refused to leave the Earth, as if these winged Beasts of Destruction had a longing too strong for the sharp Embrace of solid Matter. Ground Loop upon Ground Loop was performed to the cries of "WTF!! What am I doing wrong! Why won't this Damned Plane fly??!?". Because they were Noobs, and Noobs knoweth not better.
4
From the Heaven boom'd forth a mighty Voice, scaring the Noobs half out of their Minds and impressing them forever with their lack of Knowledge in matters pertaining to flight. "Harken to ye Noobs! Thee shalt lock thine Tail Wheel afore attempting to leave thine surly Bonds". So did the Noobs lock their Tail Wheels, and it was immediately perceived as good. Yet the surly Bonds remain'd unbroken and there was a great gnashing of Teeth upon the Earth.
5
So did the Noob maltreat his Stead that Aircraft upon Aircraft were reduced to smoking Piles of twisted Aluminium until the Voice boom'd forth again, this time with badly concealed Mirth. "Thou shalt bear in Mind the awesome Power of thine Engine for it createth Torque of considerable strength sufficient to throw thee Cheek first unto the Ground. Harness this Power with judicious application of Rudder and counteract thine rolling tendency with opposite Aileron". Thus did the Noobs practice much until they could safely throw themselves into the Air several meters before encountering further Complications. For they were truly Noobs.
6
A greate kaboom was heard many a times as Noob after Noob slamm'd catastrophically into the unyielding Ground, hardly mask'd by shrieks of horror and consternation. So the Voice also boomed "Noob! Thou shalt not pull almightily on thine stick afore thine Airspeed is sufficient for Flight, or be punish'd swiftly by fearsome Stall to flutter harshly to the hard Matter. Fool! Stabilize thine Craft to comfortable Speed and then thee may Maneuvre". Thus He spake and the Noob obey'd until he was no more an earthbound Noob but a flying Noob.
7
On wings of horrific destruction recently tamed the Fighter Puke swung himself loftily into the Skye. "Yay! I'm UP! Now art I no longer a Noob! Look out! Here I come!" crooneth he and aim'd his nose through the nearest Hanger. Many a times distinctly dented and charr'd it was before the Noob rushed giddily through its wide yet narrow span, to embrace the omnipresent Destroyer, the Tree, in spectacular Explosion. And so Noob remain'd a Noob, to the great Entertainment of Gods and Spectators.
8
So came the wondrous Day - verily, the First Day, the Day of his real Birth - when Noob pressed the tantalizingly glowing Button that spelt "Play Online". Lo and behold! A land of plenty, where Fighter Pukes galore were already aloft and seeking each other's swift annihilation. Humbled by this presence of other, hysterically vocal, Noobs, Noob snuck out on a faraway Field called Cambrai or Bertrix to try his luck and his Guns. Up he went and all the Angels of the Sky hummed in unison. "W00t!" was his first utterance, and "WTF!" his second, as the evil Vulcher from Hell swept down and smote him in a vicious blow. "Haha!" croon'd he, "Noob! Check thine Six before takeoff or I shall smite thee another time!". Much distressed and lusting for Revenge did the Noob thus check his Six, and seeing nothing but a great big Seat took off again into the waiting Guns of Vulcher.
9
"This was not in the Manual I did not read", cried the Noob and loudly bemoaned his Fate many a times in succession until his Brethren from rear Airfields came to his succour and chase'd away the wily Vulcher.
10
The multilayered Sky now clear'd, the Noob didst fly away at the unholy altitude of several tens of meters, only barely avoiding to cut the Grass on a certain popular Hill, so resplendent in gaily colored pieces of various shattered Aircraft. "So this is what it's like to be a Fighter Puke" extolled the Noob, happily testing his Guns for all to see. On his next sortie he didst not test his Guns like so no more, and the sneaky Swooper didst in fact not see him so easily. "Now I am verily a Fighter Puke, I know when not to fire my Guns!" cried the Noob. "Nay" the Gods of the Sky and the High Domain retorted, "thou art nothing but a Weedklipper Noob". And there was much squinting and grimacing below.
11
Flying low over the eternally Green Pastures didst the Noob now spy a strange Roundel glowing ever brighter. "My God, what hast thou sent in my way? This Apparition is like nothing I have ever seen" he muttered, and emptied his Guns for King and Country in what perchance might be the right direction. Oh such marvellous Thunder, watch the pearly lines of sweet Tracer arcing toward the strange Shape yet falling curiously short. "WTF!!! Why doth he not fall down in fiery Flames such I didst not long ago??!?! Crud and nerf!!! These Guns are Ghey!!?! I'm a Fighter Puke and these Frikken Guns are no good!", yell'd he and pounded his Temple in consummate frustration. "Lordy No, thou art no Fighter Puke until thee knoweth thine Enemy from thine Friend" chuckled the Gods above and sped mightily away on their double-digit Mission.
12
Next upon his Trail of Misery came actual Contact form'd as zings and pings unto his Aircraft. "WTF!!?" he shouted yet again and threw his Crate into wild evasives. So pitiful were they seen from the other end of the Gun that all the Napkins in the World could not wipe away the Tears of Laughter of the opposing Pilot, though it didst bring our Noob a brief respite. "Where the Blue-blazoned Bondoogles didst he come from??!!?!" cried the Noob, "I was certain the Sky was clear, nothing couldst I see however much I looked!". "Whence did thee look?" ask'd his fellow Noobs, fully anticipating the reply: "Why, forward of course, how else would I know where to fly?". Rolling on the badly swept Floor and clutching their Stomachs in painful Laughter didst the Company of Noobs then declare "You Noob! Thou must look upon the entire Sky at all times, many a times in rapid succession, never slacking, never failing, or thee will be smote without Ceremony. Thee who thou doth not see thou cannot combat - thou lose Sight thou lose the Fight".
13
So when the foul Enemy come upon him a second time, the Noob pull'd mightily back upon his Stick and suffer'd another weird Experience - the World went black as Tar yet the throb of Engine was yet extant. "Yah! I am now a Fighter Puke for I knoweth how to evade mine Enemy!" shouted he. "Nay, yet art thee not a Fighter Puke, thou art nothing but a flaming Noob" came the swift reply from the lofty Highs, and verily, the dreaded Skulls grinn'd at our Noob again. "Thou art a Noob for thee knoweth not that your Maneuvre must be like flowing Water and Womens' Temper - hard to predict and ever shifting". Thus watch'd the Noob his blazing demise with mixed emotion, wowing some Day to fly like the Gods a-yonder.
14
In his next Engagement the Noob harkened the Words of Wisdom and cautiously handled his Aircraft. A trifle too cautiously perhaps, for it took the Enemy not long to seize such a gallant Offering. Desperate with Fear and Humiliation the Noob shouted for Advice, to be told to "Turn and Burn!". Of Burning he knew far too much already, yet precious little of the previous. Circle after circle doth he turn, the Enemy in hot Pursuit and snapping at his Heels. "Ye Gods!" he yell'd, "I am verily turning for King and Country, yet this evil Bastard will not yield! And doth I not fly the most turningest Plane of all already?!?!".
15
Thus spake the booming Voice. "Thou shalt always be trimmed so that even when climbing, diving or fighting thou canst releaseth thy Grip on the Stick without immediately departing from thine selected Attitude. Thee who never trims shalt be smote without effort by thine correctly trimmed Opponent and thee will shout "WTF!! No WAY! How did he do that??!?" a thousande times afore thee learneth the Secret of Trim".
16
In that moment was born the "T&B Noob". Lengthily, at least according to his Standards, and lustily did he henceforwarde cast himself with abandon into any old Furball, a Concept harkening back to ye olde Days when Naphtaline-drenched fighting Cats were tossed into a Ring, there to rip each other asunder, Fangs out and Hair afire. "I'm a Fighter Puke and I'm oh-kayee, thee are mine Enemy and thee smellee!" roareth the Noob, spraying and praying that his Shots would hit something other than thin Air and himself something other than the Ground. And it was good.
17
Yet something was amiss! Never did his Fire connect properly and never did he score anything other than Enemy Aircraft "damaged". He had yet to witness an Opponent break out in Fire under the Hail of his Guns. So mortified was he by this failure that he approacheth one of the lesser Gods, asking him for Advice. He had none to give, except "get closer, Noob". These Words echoed worthlessly in his Skull, for even though he pushed his Throttle Quadrant fully forward could the Noob never seem to get close enough to the elusive Enemy. "Oh vey! Woe is me! Mine aircraft is too slow, the Enemy too fast, my Guns so nerfed and pork'd, never will I be a Veteran or Demi-God! Woe is me! Where is the unsub Button?" he would lament in moments of utter Despair.
18
In this moment of utter Need and Dejection did the Gods Benovelence shine upon him, bathing him in the bright Light of Insight and burning away the Fog of Uncertainty. They said: "Noob! Thy must apply Lead Pursuit! With Pure Pursuit thee will never close with thine Enemy! Aim thine Aircraft in front of the elusive Enemy, towards the Place in the Sky whence he is travelling, not directly at him, and thee will gain Closure on him even when thy Aircraft is slower than his! Capisce?". The Noob pondered these truthful Words at great length with Mouth agape and his Hands describing various Trajectories, eventually coming to the Conclusion that the Gods verily spake with immense Authority. And from then on it was very good.
19
So did the Noob think of himself as a bona-fide Fighter Puke again, inasmuch he could now point his Crate anywhere in the Sky and find the golden Vector of pertinent Closure, though it did take many a painful visit by the dreaded Skulls and many a Negotiation of the General User Interface to become airborne again. He would scream "Whee-ha! Look out for the Fighter Puke and his awesome Lead Pursuit!", except when instead he produced a much-feared Over-shoot before the Muzzles of his Enemy. "Ha! Thou art not a Fighter Puke! Thou art but an Overshooting Noob without Class or Knowledge in the Dark Art of Lag Pursuit!" chuckled the Gods and again made strange motions with their upper Extremities for his Erudition.
20
With new-found Zeal and Energy did the Noob cast himself into yet more cataclysmic Furballs, there to apply various amounts of Lead, Lag and Pure Pursuit. Mightily did he sweat and toil, many were the Hours slaved away in constant Agony, many were the Tears of Exhaustion and Humiliation, until finally did the Penny drop. "Woweee... I must not always point my Gunsight on mine Enemy but can actually", he paused to gasp, "release a Fraction of Elevator pressure to glide beyond and over my Prey, then to slash in on him with a fantastic Lead solution! What ho!". So he lived happily ever after, and it was good to behold.
CHAPTER 2
Revelations. Landing Gear. Pilot Error. Deliverance. Hopes Dashed. The Gods lay down the Law. The Nerf Brigade. Revenge double-dashed. Stat-Ho's. Travails.
21
As the Noob progressed over the first Hurdle of Learning he became accustomed to looking out for himself in other directions than through the Gunsight; he managed to takeoff without crashing nearly every time; he found that Trees and Shrubbery were made of particularly tough Material not to be messed with; he learned that Otto the AI Gunner would plink him every time even through Buildings with unfailing accuracy except if thee were in a Stuka turning very slow over the Deck; he began to understand that Energy is not merely something thee get out of a Candy Bar and promptly forget in your Lint-filled Pocket - in short, through the event of every single Sortie a new Revelation would dawn upon him. And he took that as good and true.
22
With increasing alacrity and frequency he would shout "Rut Roh! Teh Pwn! Here comes the Fighter Puke to save the Day!", yet on every occasion something inexplicable would cause him to end his Sortie in abundant Flames; as a meteoric Projectile; in jaggede multicolored Pieces thrust forcefully into the Ground. And the Gods would snicker and cackle "NAY, a Fighter Puke art thee Not! Thou art nothing but a Noob with minimal Experience in the Art of Five-dimensional Combat. Thee hath yet to learn to use thine Eyes and thine Braine properly so that thou may employ thine Takeoff Gear twice in the same Sortie". And the Noob said: "Whut?".
23
Such floateth the early Days by in World War Two Online, the Noob meeting other Noobs in the Skye and sometimes gunning them down, sometimes being gunned down by them. As usual however, the very Bulk of Casualties were suffer'd through that dastardlieste of Enemies known as Pilot Error. This Pilot induceth Noob with overzealousness in filling his Targets with Lead to the Point of Collision; causeth him to pull too hard on the joyous Stick or even push too much so that he again was visited by Skulls; tempted him to look over his Shoulder when flying but a few metres over the still unyielding Ground and leading to the Publick Entertainment known as Lawn Dart; assureth him that a Split-Esse can be performed safely from 200 feet of Altitude; and many other funny Pranks. And it was not so good.
24
About this time the Gods in their lofty Abode issued forth a much-awaited Announcement: the Poor-Cousins of France were to be gifted with a new-fangl'd Machine of greate destructive Power, immediately doubling their available Fighter types. The Machine was to be delivered "soon", and so happy were the French Noobs that they fëted on braised Sheep and somersaulted with joy. Alas, they ran out of Sheep in short Order, for "soon" were not "soon" but "much later" or at the very least "not right now, but quite soon" and even French cannot party that long but were forced back into their pokey Hawk 75's. Thus did the Gods play with their Underlings and had many a Laugh on their Expense, or so it was thought. And that too was not so good, but it promised to be.
25
At long last the Saviour-Aircraft of the French arrived: the God-blessed, wonderfully equipped and brand spanking new Dewoitine D.520. Promised to give the Evil Cabbage-reeking Messerschmitt 109 more than match, the Noob lustily threw himself into the Skye again in his gleaming new Ride, there to run down and out-turn the fabulously turning 109 before inserting an ample Dose of 20 mm Hispano in his Posterior. It was not to be! "Confound it, there seems to be something amiss with this Plane!" shouteth he, for it could neither climb nor turn nor glide nor hardly be looked out of. The Dewoitine did burn very well though, and it did fall quite nicely. Thus were the already Pique-Nique-unfriendly Lawns of France strewn with many a D.520, and the manifolde gnashing of Teeth and the outraged wailings of "nerf!" was pitiful to beholde. That too was not so good, and thus was Promise dashed.
26
In these days of Malcontente and Anxiety one Crowd stood out with yellow-nosed conspicuity. They were the 109 Noobs, a brazen, unabashed and loudmouth'd Clique of gleeful Pilots with multicoloured signature files of imposing design, undaunted, indeed cheer'd, by the wailings and gnashings across the Fence. "Heh! STFU Noobs! Thou knoweth not how to fight in thy new Planes yet, and thee must fly with great Energie, Wingmen and Coordination to have a chance! Thee are not proper Fighter Pukes like we! Phhbbbtt!" sayeth they and waved manie a photoshopped Screenshot about. Such great Calamity and feuding was there that the Gods saw fit to intervene, they too extolling the Virtue of Tactics and Cooperation while at the same time roaring mightily: "THEE ART **ALL** NOOBS FOR EVER MORE unless thee purchase mine Book and readeth diligently how to be 1337 like me". And that didst shut them all up, for a day or two, which was pretty good.
27
Amidst this unsightly Commotion an unlikely Group didst emerge, that verily praised the lambasted Dewoitine for its potent Cannon. This they used with noobish joy and noobish abandon to smite vaste numbers of tactically superior Panzers sitting outside their Infantry Barracks etcetera, and little didst they care for combat in the Skye. Panzer upon Panzer litter'd the Field to such extent that all the Axis tactical Geniuses beleaguered the Gods Abode: through unison and sky-rending imitation of female animals, and with much waving of Tinfoil Hats and rare Documents, didst they convince the Gods that such Cannon cannot exist! And not one Week gone by, that Cannon was indeed replaced, while the Axis tactical Geniuses went back to strafing Allied tanks asunder in great numbers. That was neither good nor not so good but downright outrageous, yet so it goes.
28
Soon faded but not forgotten, this Slight liveth for evermore in the minds and hearts of greenclad Noobs. With Hearts a-boil with Anger didst they vent their Frustration in Circle-strafing of every little thing grey and scurrilous. This might be a fine Idea, as it used to be, were it not for the uselessness of their Rifle Bullets, the Sawdust content of their little Bombs and the acute destructive Power of the Flak30. Subdued, these Noobs turned back to use their Wheels and Tracks and Feet, at much the same time as the Noobs in foul Grey Planes arriv'd. Funny was it not, for they had nothing with what to fire back such as their Enemy could, nor were there anywhere to hide. For six months. That was also quite outrageous, yet so it goes.
29
Whatever Side or lamentable Facts one chooses to see, this is not a tale of Army Woe but of F'ing Noobs and their crave of Vets to be. Some relevance hath it though, for many of the circle-strafers claim'd the Veteran's Title, crooning "I'm so 1337 and thou art but a Noob! When thee have a Thousande Kills like me, then thee may, maybe, kiss my Boot". Upon close Inspection wert those Stats not so braggart after all, consisting mainly as they did of ill-gotten counts of Squishie and Cardboard Tanks destroy'd. This the Gods said nothing about claimed they, though in Publick Light were such claims not Fame but mere total Noobery. For Pilots counteth not Trucks and Locomotives but other Planes, such as Tradition holdeth. So it is, and that is good.
30
So returneth we to the Noob and his Travails. Through all this he flew most happily, shouting "WTFG!" and "w00t!" and "WTF!??" at various times, trying hard to avoid the Sucker-Traps, the Evil Foe, the Unobtanium Trees and the still Stone-hard Ground. And it was mostly good.

"True confessions time - I'm not just a PC gamer. Never have been and
doubt I ever will be. I've always owned every gaming platform
available, always played both console and PC games. What's more, I've
always wanted to work on a console game. There. I said it."
...(speechless)
"I don't think you have to dumb down the experience or make a game
more action-oriented or less thoughtful for console gamers (as I've
been told repeatedly over the years)."
...()
"I don't think it's true any longer (if it ever was) that console
games have to be aimed at a younger audience than PC games and THAT
forces you to make different design decisions."
Shh..., the word you're seeking is not young.
"Maybe I'm just dim but, from a player experience standpoint, I STILL
believe games are games and gamers are gamers. And I'm proud as hell
of the Invisible War team for delivering virtually the same game on
both PC and Xbox. The only differences worth noting are the UI,
texture resolution and overall resolution. Other than that? Same game.
PC, Xbox, we don't care - it's Invisible War. (Guess we'll find out
soon enough whether I really am dim or whether I get to thumb my nose
at all the folks who said we should change the game to suit the
platform!)"
But why, oh why you wanted to do that? For example, different UI,
inventory and auto/manual skill system for Xbox and PC would have been
nice.
"We decided that some of the complexity associated with the UI in the
first Deus Ex game actually didn't contribute to our core gameplay AT
ALL. And we decided to eliminate what we considered to be unnecessary
UI complexity. So, I suppose you could say that we chose the path of
simplifying the controls for Invisible War. But it's critical that
people understand -- though the UI decisions we made clearly benefited
the console version, we made no decisions that we thought would
compromise our core gameplay. And we would have made the same
decisions even if the game had been PC-only."
But of course...
"We made it so you don't have to find a medbot and go to a separate
screen to install a biomod or heal yourself. I suppose there are
players out there who thought it was cool to walk around with a
character upgrade but NOT be able to use it. I wasn't among them. Why
delay a reward? The player has discovered something cool, either by
exploring the gameworld or expending resources to solve a game
problem. Why NOT let them install a biomod immediately, without having
to find a medbot or go to a separate UI screen to do so?"
Riiight, instant satisfaction for...
"We rolled the augmentations and skills systems of the first game into
a single "biomods" system, eliminating the UI subscreen associated
with skills (and all the classic-RPG number-crunching associated with
that system). Yes, we did this to make the game more accessible. We
didn't WANT players worrying about ways to increase their marksmanship
by 10%... We wanted players playing the game, making choices about who
they wanted to be and how they wanted to interact with the gameworld.
And combining the two systems had the added benefit of eliminating
some particularly silly decisions (like forcing players to decide
whether they wanted to increase their aquatic capabilities by
upgrading the aqualung augmentation or by spending skill points to
upgrade their swimming skill -- I mean, why NOT roll a choice like
that into a single, reasonable decision?). This wasn't a
console-specific decision, per se, but a gameplay decision."
Yep thiiinking, it's haaaard....yep haaarrd it is.
"Among the more controversial decisions we made, one some players see
as making the game more consoley and less PC-ish, was to go with a
single ammunition type (rather than unique ammunition for each weapon
type). This eliminated the need to track "shots" and "clips" for each
weapon, individually. It also had the added benefit of ensuring that
players have to manage their ammo resource throughout the game,
instead of blasting through all of their ammo for one weapon, secure
in the knowledge that they have a max loadout for every OTHER weapon
in the game to fall back on! Some people have assumed that this change
'simplifies' strategic gameplay. In my experience, it actually makes
the game more difficult, maybe even more hardcore!"
Who are you and what you have done with the real WS.
"Fundamentally (and not to sound like a broken record), we WANTED to
offer players the same game on both platforms. We embraced the
limitations of the Xbox, focused on the player experience and, yes,
made some compromises."
And again, why oh why.

And now, a word from the Onion....err AFP. Good Grief. SOCKS?!?!
Suspicious socks spark Al Qaeda alert. 07/12/2003. ABC News Online

Suspicious socks spark Al Qaeda alert
The United States Government has issued a warning that the Al Qaeda terror network might use clothing and other personal items, including socks, in potential attacks against airliners.
The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed it issued the warning on Wednesday, after being tipped off about a pair of suspicious socks.
"We had information about potentially somebody using a sock, we don't know what specifically it would be used for, however, it was prudent for us to put that information out to the security professionals," Brian Roehrkasse, a department spokesman, said.
He declined to say where the sock tip had originated.
"The source was classified so I can't get into those details."
The FBI issued a similar warning on the same day as part of its weekly bulletin to law enforcement agencies.
American ABC News reported on Friday that British authorities were examining a pair of blue socks which reportedly contained the "components" of an explosive device that could be used to strike a plane.
"There is not intelligence that indicates Al Qaeda is involved in a plot to blow up a plane," Mr Roehrkasse said.
"This is an example of when we've learned about a potential Al Qaeda tactic, we passed them on and we do this on a regular basis."
The department warned earlier this year about the possible use of personal electronic items as potential bombs.

The Willemstad Campaign
Version 1.10
10/29/03 too 12/4/03
Axis Victory
This campaign started out with the BEF forces making small gains in the north. The Zeeland islands were liberated, this being the first campaign too see the use of freighters in that area, and the BEF was driving north when it hit Willemstad. It proved too be a difficult obstacle and the town would not fall too the British forces. In the south the Axis forces were rolling through French towns and soon they were knocking on Reims door. The Reims Berry area has always proven too be at least a speed bump and most times a difficult hurdle for Gerry too get by and this time it was indeed a difficult hurdle for axis forces. Then the north collapsed, Antwerp fell, the Zeeland islands were retaken, and Brussels was hanging on by a thread. The first RDP cycle kicked in and the French selected the Stuart tank too see action for the first time. The Brits went with the Spit V and the Axis went with the P3H. The Stuart many will say attracted a lot of players and soon the allied forces were rolling west. Reims and Brussles soon had a buffer around them. Stuart mania ran so wild that for the first time many northern towns in the BEF AO such Aarschott, Lier , Tienen etc. were capped French. Antwerp was recaptured and soon the Zeelands were liberated. But again the Brits hit the fortress of Willemstad and stalled out yet again. In the deep south the French were having their own Willemstad but that town was Vouziers. The french in the middle managed too reclaim the Meuse River and even manage some small gains across it. Again the offensive stalled out and from then on it was a steady retreat. This campaign saw a successful strategic bombing campaign by the Lufftwaffe and they delayed the arrival of the Hawk 81 by two or three days. Let it be noted for this campaign rebuild times on damaged factories were tweaked some so bombing would have longer lasting results. The Axis went with the 109F and the BEF selected the Damalier. One more RDP cycle came before the end of the campaign with the Brits selecting the Crusader, and the axis fielding the 251 half-track for the first time.

S! guys. To set the records straight, hehe. Your french brothers down south were the ones who figured out this exploit, not the axis. We were the ones who tested it a few days back and whammo, we had 150 pzrs in an ab. As a matter of fact, you could go see them now, they are still there. we didnt even use them. As soon as it was replicated, we emailed the rats 2 days ago. I also got in touch with sporin, told him EXACTLY what we did and i asked him to PLEASE inform BABLE and let them get this bug squashed IMMEDIATELY.
We werent the ones exploiting it. The french were down south. If you recall my asking "all ahc op down south" "Bef move down south"? There were so many tanks i thought all allies were playing down there. Well, now we know why. Anyways, its being worked on as we speak. So whoever posted that the axis were getting tanks every 5-10min were correct. What they didnt state is that we didnt even use them. I cant vouch for all axis obviously. But i can vouch for the 3rd. We replicated the problem and contacted ghc and the rats immediately as well as i informed sporin to please let bable know as soon as i found out about it.

I don't understand, did you find something there you agreed/diagreeded with? Stuff in italics is ussaly what other people have writtin, normal text is ussualy me. started it because I got hooked on reading rickb's log (BTW, he changed the adress again today).
For example, I'm saving this post there now :). You're the first person to ever comment on it."
I would have never thought of someone doing a search for THAT would end up here. Good Grief.

Mellow,
You did read that I had over 6000 kills in 109E in less than 6 months ... you do read?
How much more research must I conduct?
My German squad was so talented that it was not uncommon for 3 of us to come back with 20+ Hurri kills on one mission.
Once you are in that mindset, you tend to believe that it is your right to have 5-6 hurri kills per sortie, I did, and you buy into the hubris of German superiority. To be honest, I do believe that a year ago the Axis might have had the edge in organization. Things change in a year and I believe they have become sloppy.
A week ago, seems like eternity, when the Allies still had Oostmalle, late in the evening the Germans attacked. One other 2pdr squadmate and I killed at least 15 tanks, which a minimum of 9 pzr 3H's. Almost all from the left-rear hitting the sweet spot. This would never have happened if even a minimum of precaution had been taken.
Realm was the best I saw at A13 busting. Think he nailed 12 in 1 mission, and that was mainly with MG. Once I destroyed a column of 8 by myself and that wasn't my specialty, more focused on pure T&B flying.
Have yet to kill German tank with a Brit fighter. So what is it, don't have the skill to go vertical? Maybe you can show me how it is done. Maybe some other German pilot can show how a Spit1 takes out a tank. Maybe how a SpitV does it.

Many of the German players haven't had kind words for me. Others question my objectivity, stating that with minor experience with German equipment I couldn't possibly understand their trials and tribulations.
Therefore a brief summary of my Axis experience is warranted, in particular, a couple of items which may make me unique among the player base.
German Rank:
Brigadier General in the air, accomplished in 6 months.
Over 6000 kills in 109E.
Quadruple Colonel on the ground; have 4 accounts.
The German equipment is a joy compared to the Brit equipment.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Axis Tactics against the British
Pre-RDP: A slightly more trying period. Nothing to be concerned about, but it does delay the good times.
Overriding RULE: Indiscriminately bomb. Great fun and requires virtually little skill.
Spawn Stuka and drop bombs somewhere in the vicinity of Allied tank. Pretty much guaranteed a kill.
Spawn Stuka and bomb Allied AB of your choice. Ignore pesky AI, really has marginal effect on Ju87, unlike the Blen IV.
Spawn Stuka and shoot down Hurri. Don't forget that Stuka is just another form of fighter and still is fairly immune to MG shells.
Spawn BF109E and massacre tanks. Some of our heroic pilots have killed up to 12 A13's in one mission. Of course Allied planes are ineffective against panzers. And resist any efforts by those revisionist individuals that demand parity among the planes. It is natural and correct that a 109E pilot kill 5-6 Hurris per mission, just like the good old 1.6 days.
Spawn Destroyer and "suppress" your favorite town. Ignore Allied bombers because their bombers have only 1/4 of the effective killing power and are highly inaccurate (remember they are not dive bombers).
Spawn armor and ATG guns at any FB regardless if 2pdr is killing them, remember we receive more tanks and .... get this, they treat the Vickers as the equivalent of a 232 or Pzr 2c. Remember the Vickers can only really kill infantry while any one of our units can kill a Vickers or A13.
A13s, and Vickers(and A15s to most extent) can be killed with LMG's, Flak 30s, 109s, 110s, 232's, and just about any other weapon we have. Conversely, the Pzr's can only be killed by a direct hit by a very skilled Blen IV pilot. Foolish Allies, don't they realize that it is much easier to drop a JU87 250 in the midst of a group of Allied tanks attacking an AB and rack up 4 kills than that tiresome jettison of your load and attempt, with few successes, to RTB.
Disregard Matildas though that may see confusing, it really is a fantastic joke. First off, CRS deems them to be a heavy tank and therefore rationalizes that either there are less A13s or more Vickers(lol). What is even more hilarious, is that in the RDP process, that logic falls by the wayside and they treat the Pzr 3H as just about the equivalent of the Daimler, but I'm getting ahead of myself, more about that later. The inside joke is that the Matti is rarely used on major attacks because they are too slow, have been down-graded, can we say nerfed, by CRS, and not surprisingly, can easily be killed by, you guessed it, the Stuka. What could be more gut-splitting than to have a dim-witted Brit spend an hour resupplying a Matti that can be killed by a one 5 minute Stuka run. By the way, did I mention the 88; unlike the 2pdr which can bounce 10 shells off the front of a 3H, the 88 makes short work of the Matti. Mental note, 109s can disable Mattis. Poor Sap just spent an hour to be disabled by a fighter.
That reminds me, if by some chance, those upstart Brits decide to take a town. Employ the simple wagon train defense. Set up 88's and pzr's in the AB and wait. Any tank that rolls in will be annihilated by the 88's and don't worry about the air. That which isn't shot down by the Luftwaffe will either miss, most likely, or be immediately shot in the head by AI. Of course we don't have to worry about this because as noted above, Stukas are pretty much immune to AI and really can't miss.
Don't forget what was once our most valuable weapon, the Opel. Let the propaganda machine report that it is not that much swifter than the Beddy and placate those slow-witted Allies. The reality is the Opel has so much more torque that during cross-country trips, it may be up to twice as fast. Invaluable for ferrying troops in during depot capping. And don't mention that if the artificial FBs in this game existed in real-life, the Brits would have either retrofitted their trucks with English motors or imported American engines. We aren't talking high-tech here and do believe the Americans had enough skill to design the Opel.
If we get a little sloppy with our tactics, don't berate yourself. The German superiority in equipment permits major leeway and we can recover fairly easily from those minor slip-ups. What's even better, after the Allies take some ground via an intense and high-coordinated effort, we can reclaim it with minor exertion and pat ourselves on the back afterwards for a job well done. This allow us to retain the pressure on the Allies and CRS regarding equipment improvements for the Brits. So splurge and lose a few towns for the war effort.
Repeat process employing as little strategy as possible, secure in the fact that any Allied advance will only be possible through a massive effort. In Pre-RDP the Allied planes will have the audacity to shoot a few Stukas down, even if it takes the full load-out of a Spit I. Don't worry that will end soon
Post-RDP: The Party Begins
The inside secret here is that none of the first three Brit selections match up evenly with the German choices, and why should they? I mean to introduce any British weapon that was overwhelmingly better than a German weapon would be pure blasphemy. It's the Fatherlands right to every advantage.
Panzer 3H versus Crusader(A15) Remember that 109's can kill Crusaders, Crusaders struggle to kill 3H, 3H kill anything easily. Remember CRS logic: Because the 2pdr on the Daimler is powerful, we count the Daimler as much more than a scout car, such as 232 which is equally as fast. However, the 3H 5.0 cm gun is more powerful than 2pdr(or much more powerful relatively, given the armor strength of A13), but the 3H is not counted as more than a Daimler; perplexing, but fair to the Axis ... don't you agree?
BF109F versus Spit IV This would appear to be more even, but don't be fooled. Due to its sheer speed and incredible knock-out power the 109F always changes the tide of battle soon after it's introduction. Don't discount the psychological warfare aspect of the 109F, vulching unsuspecting Hurris and Blens as they take off. As shown below, even if the 109F is equal to the Spit IV, we have many more "close" AF's and the 109F is so fast flying from those AF's, that it overwhelms the SpitV in pure numbers.
Panzer 3H versus Daimler One would think that the production cost of a scout vehicle would be far less than of a medium/heavy tank such as the 3H, but application of logic can be blinding to the truth and therefore, they are treated as equals. Due to precedence, i.e., it is quit natural for the Germans to win every map and we would get very upset if we didn't. Sort of like a dysfunctional family where the 1st born was always spoiled, tough to change precedence. It is pre-ordained that we win and if we don't, well CRS better "arrange" things for the better.
Summary:
Bomb, bomb, bomb. Wait for 109F and Panzer 3H and roll over those insignificant Brits
Post Notes for Aircraft:
Observe that either British engineers weren't particularly bright or CRS has a problem with modeling. It has been well documented by our scientists that German bombs(250kg, are roughly 4 times as powerful as British bombs, 250lb. Half of that is naturally evident due to the comparison of Kilogram to Pounds(2.2). The other half is the result of the British penchant for putting more of the mass into the shell, creating more shrapnel, making it theoretically more effective at killing infantry and 88's. Like the MGs in the Spit and Hurri, CRS can't/hasn't modeled this well and a Blen IV can drop a bomb close to an 88 and not kill it. You would think that because they can't model this correctly they would take the simple route and change the explosive value of the bomb. You would think. In addition, due to their inability to combine explosions, which admittedly would be very difficult, the jettison aspect of a Blen IV is nothing to be feared. Their really doesn't seem to be any multiplier effect and most of those simple-minded Limeys don't know the difference.
Observe the clever propaganda put forth concerning total amount of airfield, which at the beginning of the map, indicates Brit dominance. This is really sly and will always report the total amount of Airfields by each participant. In particular, note that at least 9 of the airfields for the Brits are in England and are of absolutely no use until the end of the map when their morale is so low that it doesn't matter. What is crucial to understand is that when the Brits are attacking St Truiden, a pivotal town, we have 10 Airports closer than Knokke or Vlissegen, leaving them with only 2, Antwerp and Brussels, to stop our hoards. Rest assured that more telling statistics, such as number of tanks killed by bomber type, number of killed by fighters, or number of bombers shot down by destroyers will never be provided.
Such information would be distracting because it would show that many of our non stuka aircraft, are killed via sheer boredom by attacking ABs and and harassing FB's when they are of relatively little military value. This would be divisive for the Axis powers and could only detrimental to the war effort. Additionally, this allows the dubious logic that we the Axis and CRS put forth that the German deserve more planes. Excuse me while I wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes, they give us more planes, make the 109E the starter plane and consider the Stuka the equivalent of a Blen IV.
Pray that CRS never conducts a simple experiment by switching aircraft for a map. And really pray that they never proceed with the even simpler experiment that would switch the Blens for Stukas.
How else could we convince ourselves that our tactics are not only for idiot's.
So I sum up the game....
Allied Headquarters :: View topic - Game plan
Heya Mako,
I'll start off by saying a lot of what you're asking for is my fault. As leader of 4th BDE it's my job to be in game and doing out of game. Unforutnaly I've been FIANNLY finishing my 2 year TAFE coutse (collage to you americans) and having many and varied exams, assignements etc to do. In other words- real life :(. Forutnaly that stops next monday and I'can get back into the game.
Unforunatly again, the XO of the briagde ALSO had real life issues, so the backup wasn't there either.
Forutnaly we DID have people online (3iC GIPPER being the one I know of the best) who DID lead attacks and defences (I persoonly saw him lead attacks that 3 towns every night 3 nights in a row) but yes, morale was low for a lot of us.
I blame willimstead for that myself.
Unforutnatly, all these combined into a large diaster (as all good disasters do, they never have 1 cause) that ment that this map wasn't a very fun one after we lost Antwerp the 3rd time (we took it back twice I think).
Forutnaly warfare in WW2OL runs on a sine wave and we should be better this time around! Willimstead's appenrtly been fixed, the amount of He111's has been cut and the amout of panzers the enemy can get is cut by 20%! (so are ours, and we won't have as many Havocs). And as of Monday I'll be able to get back into the game more often, and I hope others will too.
One other thing to rembember is that the briages DO tend to run on a semi time zone fashion. That's just the way it is, so if few people are on 21 or the 4th BDE TS, I reccomend you try andf find a briagde that IS online at the time. It'll be more fun probably anyway :). Remebmer that 5th and 6th briagde are often online before the 4th BDE is, and that the 1st dicvsion 2nd Armoured (ie- Channel 94! :) ) and the 1st div briagdes often have a lot of people on doing stuff elsewhere outside of our AO. If that's happening, go for it! Keep an eye if you can on FB/EWS/Depots in the 2nd Div AO but if you want to have fun, HAVE FUN WITH SOMEONE ELSE :). In all hours of the day there's always probably a bombing raid going from somewhere, or someone who would love to see a single spitfire overhead or 4 other people who woulld like to blow an FB but need a drievr to do it.
Being part of an AHC briagde means you're part of the AHC. not just one small part of it. And don't forget the french, they have over 1/2 the front line and often are a lot more active than the BEF is some days.
Not to mention the Navy guys...
As DocDoom say (blast him for Willimsetad), this is PvP, the hardest PvP on the planet, and sometimes we will lose.
but hopefully that makes winninng all the better to do :D.
Hope to see you next week.
